About
Nicholas Joseph Angelastro
D.O. , FACEP
Having obtained my BA in Pyschobiology and spending time in Neurosurgical research, I attended Osteopathic Medical School in NJ. I also finished 5th year rotating internship at same school before heading to Danville, PA for my 3yr residency in Emergency Medicine (EM).
I lived in the country on a mountain top 2 hrs from Philadelphia. I did so for about 2 years after residency and board certification exams. While there, I enjoyed cycling, mountain biking, hiking and fly fishing small streams for rainbow & brown trout.

Enjoying colleague and professional sports, I’m a hardcore Philly sports fan of all major franchises; Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and Sixers. While my family enjoyed the country, we also were avid tennis fans and players. I loved skiing, but the winter weather is not conducive to tennis year round, so I took an offer from the EM department at Sarasota Memorial Hospital(SMH).
My youngest son, Andre, is named after Andre Agassi. My wife and I remarried (after 10 years) at was then known as Lipton Open in Key Bisqcayne, FL right on center court after an Agassi match.

Not only did Sarasota offer tennis but brilliant weather year round, waterfront living, wonderful sport fishing, biking, culture and a good population for practicing medicine.

I picked up and started Olympic style weight lifting with a certified trainer at OPTI to add to my conditioning. After a decade plus in EM at SMH my group was called upon to open Urgent Care (UC) Centers, where I played an instrumental role in the creating the successful organization.

Since leaving SMH, I’ve practiced at UC and have 3.5 years in Primary Care where I enjoy helping patients navigate thru the medical world for optimal preventive health. I’ve also taken a strong interest in Medical Cannabis, enjoying trying to offer better quality of life to those with chronic maladies.

Medical Cannabis(MC) definitely should have been part of my medical training but I continue to learn more and more about how effective it can be for those with qualifying conditions and more.
Now after 27 years of Practice I’m starting up my own clinic and will include traditional primary and urgent care, under HealStrong, while also using some non-traditional MC therapy under LeafStrong.
